Crew Core
Swabbie
- Answer "yes" to the three questions asked by the Fleet Counselor
- Join the fleet Discord server
swabbies must be vetted within two weeks of joining. If the swabbie has not been vetted after two weeks, have not joined discord, this individual will be removed
Deckhand
- Must be vetted by a Captain by sailing for at least an hour so that the Captain can verify that the swabbie has read the website, understand our fleet rules, and has joined our Discord server.
- The vetting process determines that the Freemen of Nassau is a good fit for the swabbie, as we have a very different playstyle compared to other fleets.
- After gaining entry granted by the Captain, the swabbie is then promoted to Deckhand
It is the swabbie’s responsibility to let the Captains know when they will be available for vetting through the Swabbie’s Bilge text channel on Discord
Vested Sailor
- After two weeks of being a deckhand with no demerits on record, a deckhand has a right to put in to become a vested sailor. This is the bare minimum for eligibility.
- To earn a vested sailor title, the deckhand must let an officer (Quartermasters, Captains, or the Pirate Lord) know your interest in a certain vested sailor position.
- The officer in charge (after confirming the deckhand's eligibility with admin) will then watch the Deckhand, and verify that the requested role fits this individual.
- After the test, the officer will write a report, and the deckhand will be contacted regarding approval of the vested sailor position.
Officer Core
Quartermaster
- A slot must first open based on fleet ratio
- In order to be considered a candidate, a vested sailor must be sponsored by either a captain or two quartermasters.
- A board is then held during the weekly Captain's Meeting.
- If the vested sailor accepts the role, a quartermaster's vetting process will occur. After this vetting process, the vested sailor will then be asked if he/she chooses to accept or deny the role.
Captain
- A slot must first open based on fleet ratio
- Each Captain must propose a Quartermaster they feel is eligible.
- A board is then held during the Captain's Meeting on which Quartermasters have the skills to become a Captain. After discussing all the candidates, the Captains and the Pirate Lord will boil it down to one candidate.
- This candidate will be asked if he/she has an interest in the role. If so, he/she will go through a captain's vetting process. After this vetting process, the quartermaster will be asked to either accept or deny the position.
Pirate Lord
The Right of Succession
- If the Pirate Lord chooses to retire, he has the right to name a successor from the Officer Core.
- After the Captains vote, approving this successor, this officer will go through an extensive, week-long vetting and testing process with the current Pirate Lord supervising and guiding his successor.
Removed by Necessity
- If the Pirate Lord is voted to be removed out of necessity, the Captains will convene to debate and discuss on which Captain will become the next Pirate Lord. This vote must be unanimous.
